Sustainable agriculture

At Nutrinor, we have a clear vision: we want to help make the planet a healthier place. How? By becoming leaders in sustainable agriculture. Of course, there is still work to be done but we’re passionate about improving a little every day.

We are proud that 125 producer-members of our cooperative have voluntarily signed the Nutrinor Sustainable Agricultural Pact. The Pact fosters mutual aid in the adoption of sustainable farming practices in three main areas: our land, people and animals.

Our land

Our members apply best practice to maintain healthy farmland and waterways. We work hand‑in‑hand with local producers to minimize their carbon footprint and encourage their farm’s biodiversity.

Our people

We work with men and women who are dedicated to feeding people. By joining forces with our producer-members, we contribute to farm prosperity, farmer well-being and the vitality of local communities.

Our animals

We care about the welfare of our animals. We encourage our members to improve their farming practices in ways that allow animals to express their natural behaviours.

We’re introducing a new “free-range cow” seal. It certifies that the milk for our cheeses comes from cows who live happily and freely on the farm. Weather permitting, some even graze outdoors so they can express their natural behaviours.

Farming installations that allow untethered cows to move around freely allow them to express their natural behaviours. The freedom of movement is just one choice that fosters our dairy cows’ well-being.
